Amy Vianne

I create organic art experiments led by curiosity and a compulsive need to forage. Expect natural pigment making, sculptural textiles, woven roots and many seed pods.

My work is a slow investigation into our innate connection to the organic materials that surround us, often unnoticed.

I‘ve spent much of my adult life travelling through India, studying in Spain, and exploring diverse ecosystems along my journey. I found myself gathering natural treasures as I went, drawn to understand their texture and form.

In the last couple of years, I have begun to gradually develop a language with these materials: weaving with bark, sewing with palm fibres, stitching acorns together.

Having recently returned to Sheffield, I am experiencing my birthplace with fresh eyes and a desire to reconnect with the landscape. Long uncomfortable with using industrial materials, I have begun to make my own pigments from locally-foraged materials including rocks and clay from the Peak District.
