Anne Smithies

I am an artist creating expressive, thoughtful work inspired by everyday moments, blending texture, colour and narrative with fibre, fabric, print and a little chaos.
I love getting hands-on with colour, texture and a bit of joyful chaos. I work with fibres, fabric, print and paint, making bright, tactile pieces that celebrate making for the sheer fun of it. From hand-dyed yarns and stitched experiments to playful prints and one-off objects, my work is all about curiosity, colour and seeing what happens when ideas and materials misbehave!
Whether I’m alone in the studio or running workshops, I love sharing my enthusiasm and knowledge, encouraging others to join in and enjoy the process.
There will be demonstrations and a chance to try weaving, spinning and printmaking!
Work will be available to purchase alongside free refreshments. Fully accessible.
Recent exhibitions: Solo at Dorothy Pax and Gardeners Rest, Fronteer Gallery and work selected for the Ironbridge Fine Arts Exhibition. Also featured in a new Bloomsbury book “SKETCH” that builds confidence in drawing and enjoying the process, published Jan 2026.
