James William Mellor

I am contemporary mixed-media artist and my work explores mental health, identity, and human transformation. Combining painting, wire sculpture, light, and layered materials.

My practice draws on personal experience, using vibrant colour, deep shadow, and symbolic form to reflect the inner landscape of the mind. Flames, wires, and fractured surfaces often appear, representing resilience, vulnerability, and rebirth.

My work invites viewers to pause and look beyond the surface encouraging reflection, empathy, and dialogue around wellbeing and self-discovery. Through art, I aim to challenge stigma and create spaces for connection, hope, and emotional honesty.

About my studio

My studio is based within my family home, where I work with limited but focused space and resources. This intimate setting allows me to experiment freely with mixed media, wire, paint, and light.
