Jane Blake
I create art dolls using recycled materials. Sustainability is an important part of my work ethic. I use natural dyes to colour fabrics and make paperclay to form features.
I am a mixed media artist currently living in the Sharrow/Nether Edge district of Sheffield close to the vibrant area of London Rd./Abbeydale Rd.
I studied at the Sheffield College access to art and design course; then obtaining a BA in creative textiles at Huddersfield University.
I exhibit nationally and sell worldwide. Locally, I have exhibited in the Fronteer Gallery, Sheffield and the Cupola Gallery in their recent ‘Home’ and ‘Habitat’ exhibitions. Other galleries I have exhibited in are: the Open Gallery, Halifax and the House of Smalls Gallery in Edinburgh.
My inspiration derives from personal experiences, passions, causes and observations.
I use as much recycled materials as possible in my work as well as recycling packaging for sending sold work.
