Handmade books, ranging from historic replicas to contemporary artist books, materials and equipment, how books are made and can be repaired.

My interest in making books, alongside my many other creative activities, began when I discovered the joys of cutting, folding, stitching and glueing paper, papyrus, parchment, card, wood, cloth and leather. I am not a professional bookbinder with a fully equipped studio, but it is possible to make a wide variety of books with quite simple materials and equipment at home. I have studied bookmaking techniques both in person and online and having an understanding of book construction also allows me to carry out simple repairs to damaged books. You will be able to see and handle a number of historic replicas as I am interested in the history of bookbinding, as well as a variety of contemporary book forms, and the materials and equipment I use to make them. I am willing to share my love of bookmaking through workshops and talks on how to make books and the history of bookbinding and I am also happy to consider repairing poorly books.
