Joanna Rucklidge

Artist, educator and researcher, focusing on sustainability, printmaking and visual communication. Motivated by the ridiculous abundance of disposable materials in the world.
I make work about consumer culture using disposable objects as inspiration, tools and motifs. I am an experimental printmaker using a range of reclaimed materials and techniques incorporating screen, block and mono printing. Printmaking appeals to me with it’s inherent resourcefulness by means of re-use, repetition and retaining resources to be used again.
I run printmaking workshops in my cellar studio and occasionally curate and host exhibitions.
Come and visit my cosy and colourful studio full of collected materials and an archive of work on display. Try printing with found materials, too!
I recently started a PhD exploring the correlation between detrimental climate change and consumer choices associated with waste paper. I have been a part-time lecturer for nearly 30 years having studied Graphic Design and Visual Communication at Glasgow School of Art and the Royal College of Art.
