Katherine Rhodes
Printmaker and painter, inspired by landscape, sea, and rock, particularly the Peak District, mountains, and places popular with walkers, climbers and lovers of the outdoors.
My artwork is representational, mostly linocut printmaking, plus other print methods and painting. I am inspired by adventures, enjoying the outdoors and a love of nature. Subjects include mountains, rocks, trees, and water, from inland to coastal landscapes.
Within rocky landscapes, I love to explore the colours and shapes of stone, the terrain, paths, and edges. I try to capture the ruggedness and feel of a place in my artwork, but also to describe the rocks and landscape accurately, so that climbing routes, rock or landscape features can be identified, and a path traced within my artwork.
My work has been exhibited throughout the UK, as well as with the Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and in the prestigious New Light Art Prize. Prizes include; Derbyshire Open Art Exhibition 2022 and 2017, North Lincolnshire Print Open 2019, AIR Arts Prize Derby Print Open 2018.
