Katherine Rhodes

Printmaker and painter, inspired by landscape, sea, and rock, particularly the Peak District, mountains, and places popular with walkers, climbers and lovers of the outdoors.
My artwork is inspired by the explorations and the experiences we have in the outdoor landscape, whether mountains, hills, rivers or sea. I make linocut prints inspired by rocks, edges and moorland, including many of those in the nearby Peak District, that I visit regularly from Sheffield, and also many other rugged places further afield. Making the artwork is my creative way to explore rock, mountains and landscape, reproducing pathways, terrain and rock surface features in the images I make. Following the adventure through the making of my prints.
I use reduction process and multiple plates for linocut and collagraph print techniques, all alongside painting and drawing that underpins my art.
My linocut prints have been exhibited in regional exhibitions and galleries, in the Mall Gallery and Bankside Gallery London, shortlisted for the New Light Art Prize, and awards in the Derbyshire Open Exhibition 2022 + 2017.
