Katie Wilson

Inspired by Argyll’s rugged coast, my seascapes capture shifting tides and light, sometimes featuring oystercatchers whose playful presence bring life to the wild shores.
My work is a visual exploration of the rugged coastline around Kilberry in Argyll, where the interplay of light, rock, and water creates a theatre of constant change. I am particularly drawn to the dramatic shifts in weather and tide, capturing how the elements transform the shore. Within these seascapes, I often feature the Oystercatcher; their striking, high-contrast plumage and bold presence bring a playful sense of life to the wild energy of the Scottish coast.
I use acrylic paints on canvas and board. Recently I have been experimenting more with using a range of tools for applying paint and scratching into wet paint.
