Krishna Alageswaran

Krishna Alageswaran

I am a ceramic artist and sculptor, inspired by the animal kingdom, architecture and the urban environment.

I have a lifelong fascination with the animal kingdom and I respond playfully by making birds, seals, whales and other animals, as well as incorporating bird imagery in my sculptural works. I have recently completed a frog and toad public sculpture for the family trail at Whirlow Hall, situated in the brook.

I specialise in hand-building sculptural forms, with complex, textured and patterned surfaces achieved by applications of layers of slip, oxides and dry glazes and through multiple firings.

I also slab build boxes, towers and vessels, influenced by architecture, ancient cultures and the relationship between the natural and the urban world. The surfaces on the ceramic vessels reference the passing of time on the human landscape.
