Leo Fieldhouse

I am an oil painter who is inspired by the relationship between space and figures within an environment using colour to create atmosphere and tone.
Through my paintings I look at how the relationship between figures and the environment can create a sense of tension and often isolation. I like experimenting with colour in my oil paintings to offer an alternate reality and create a specific tone and atmosphere. I work from a mixture of initial drawings and photographs, whilst aiming to convey a moment of time within a story in the final image.
I was brought up in Sheffield and I am continuously inspired by the city and surrounding natural environment, as well as often getting inspiration from photography and film.
I started painting with oils during my Art A Level and have continued using this medium in the following years; studying architecture and working within the art department in Film and TV. I have had my work exhibited at Fronteer and Cupola Galleries, as well displaying work at Art in the Gardens.
