Rosalie Wyatt

My current work is largely based on outdoor sketches, in all weathers, often reinterpreted in acrylics . Most of my work is a response to what catches my eye.
From early childhood I visited art exhibitions and my efforts at drawing and painting were encouraged by teachers and family. After GCE O-LEVELS I studied physical science and maths, so formal art education ended. After retiring I underwent basic art education and in 2003-4 I was in workshops with Kristan Baggaley. He was a huge influence, extending horizons and confidence in mark making . Between 2004-6 I had a solo open studio with Sheffield Open Up, also volunteering to help with distribution etc. In 2007 and 2008 I shared other artists’ studios for Open Up. I was a member of Heeley Art Group until we moved to Plymouth for nearly 10 years.
In Plymouth I met like minded painters and became part of the network of a private gallery of contemporary art. I shared exhibitions from 2012-2018, largely with the ‘Drawn to the Tamar Valley’ open studios, and the Ashtorre group. Twelve of us met to exhibit for a fortnight, usually with a shared theme. As well as painting, I dabbled in collage.
