Paintings that have layers of textured paint with collage that express nature within an urban environment. During event see works in progress demonstrating the process.
My paintings contain many layers of collage and paint applied in various ways to create a finished artwork with depth that expresses how nature can be found within the urban environment. This style, and process, has developed over the last few years as I’ve got back into making art since having children. Having young children still impacts on my work as I use my pockets of free time to create. Plus, I’ve picked up a fascination with nature from my eldest son. My art is influenced by textures in the city: graffiti, flaking paint layers and old painted signs on walls. I studied Visual Communication at Edinburgh College of Art and the lasting impact of this background in graphics can be seen in the clean and considered details within the artwork I create. I have sold at Cupola Gallery, Cut Up Collective Makers Market and displayed in Fronteer Gallery exhibitions.
