Amanda Packham

I’m a ceramic sculptor inspired by clay and the body, making flat coiled wax etched forms. Also hand built bowls and 2/3D carved sculptures.
My interest in clay goes back to childhood and its possibilities have inspired my working life as a teacher in ceramics/ sculpture and Fine Art. It is still my passion. I’ve had commissions, taken part in exhibitions for 40 years and currently work at the Arthouse with creative groups and teaching/working from my studio. I hope to inspire people to value themselves through the work they do. My influences centre around the first handling of clay and figurative depiction and the written word to create expressive (often mixed clay) sculptures alongside more intricate carved pieces, plaques and hand formed bowls. I work with grogged clays, wax etching and washed glazes in the sculptural pieces. All work is for sale and my studio is in the garden, where you’re welcome to enjoy the surroundings. The pieces I make are integral to who I am and hopefully resonate with others.
