Cath Dunn
Cath is a painter & printmaker inspired by natural forms of the Peak District: rocks, trees, the lie of the land & works with pattern, rhythm & colour.
Using the patterns, curves & rhythms of the land, I capture my feelings & the spirit of much-loved places that I visit again & again to internalise their essence.
My interpretation of the landscape builds on my northern/Scottish heritage & is subtly but deeply influenced by living in Africa for many years. As a painter, I use these layers of heritage & experience in my choice of line, shape and colour to capture my emotional response to the landscape. I depict the world as a dialogue between what I see and what I feel. Line, colour and the conversation between perception, sensation and memory form my specific visual language with which I continue to surprise myself.
I work in a variety of mediums and have won awards through the British Open Art completion, Buxton Museum, Wirksworth Festival & am currently on the cover of the Earth Pathways diary.
