Additional website profile (150 words) I love my studio. It is a generous space where the light is good and there is room for brushwork, ink, pastels, drawing, painting and my beloved ‘Irish’ industrial sewing machine.

Bookshelves line the wall making an inspiring space for study. I’ve been making work for exhibitions and commissions here for over 40 years invariably returning to common themes of landscape and light, finding a common thread connecting embroidery and painting.

Embroidery is a surprisingly expansive process, capable of a breadth and depth of expression parallel to all other creative disciplines. Drawing is the link, opening up a line of communication from pencil to thread and all the richness of silks, organza, dissolvable and natural fabrics. It’s an enquiry into the joy and spirit of life; the observed world and the inner reflective one.
