Uura Niemi-Junkola

I produce watercolour and acrylic and charcoal semi-abstract art pieces. My style is characterised by flow and movement of colour and mark making.
I am a Sheffield based artist originally from Finland. I am an intuitive artist who likes to ‘go with the flow’ and to use the painting process itself as inspiration. I use variety of mediums; acrylics, water-colour, ink, charcoal etc., and often a lot water during painting. This creates an unpredictable element to the paintings and the creative process. My work is mostly characterised by colour, shape, flow and movement. I feel across my work in different mediums, is expressed contrasting aspects of my personality; strength, delicacy, vulnerability and drama. In addition, I draw inspiration from nature, situations, dreams and imagination. I have taken part over 30 exhibitions including solo exhibitions and won a second price in D31 winter exhibition 2021.
