Valerie Williams

I paint mainly with watercolour on paper, blending colour, pattern and texture to create semi abstract work with illustrative details.

Having lived in India, Kent and now South Yorkshire, my paintings reflect my memories of landscapes and personal narratives. With a primary focus on watercolour, I also use collage, gouache, coloured pencil, and ink. I draw particular inspiration from the years I lived in India and Indian miniatures.

Using water based media , I explore the push and pull of the abstract, the accidental and figurative.

My paintings have a dreamlike and contemplative quality.

About my studio

My studio is in the rear of a converted garage, at the bottom of my garden.

My paintings will be on display and I will be happy to talk about my work.

The studio is in my garden, which can be accessed two ways. Firstly, from the rear on Donnington Road where visitors can park on the road (use Sat Nav S2 2RF). Secondly, there is pedestrian-only access to the front of the house on Norfolk Park Avenue, which faces Norfolk Heritage Park.
