Katherine Rhodes

Katherine Rhodes

Printmaker and painter, inspired by landscape, sea, and rock, particularly the Peak District, mountains, and places popular with walkers, climbers and lovers of the outdoors.

My artwork is inspired by the explorations and the experiences we have in the outdoor landscape, whether mountains, hills, rivers or sea. Frequenting the nearby Peak District, I make linocut prints inspired by rocks, edges and moorland that I see there, but also find inspiration in places further afield. Making the artwork is my creative way to explore rock, mountains and landscape, reproducing pathways, terrain and rock surface features in the images I make. Following the adventure through the making of my prints.

I use linocut printmaking techniques (both reduction process and multi-plate), plus some collagraph print techniques, all alongside painting and drawing that underpins my art.
My linocut prints have been exhibited in the Mall Galleries and Bankside Gallery in London, in the New Light Art Prize and many other major regional galleries, with awards in the Derbyshire Open Exhibition (2017 + 2022) and others.
